Quote - Fantasy

"Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisioned by the enemy, don't we consider it his duty to escape?. . . If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!"

~J.R.R. Tolkien

Weird, I couldn't find these books on goodreads.com *shrug*

So When I first started reading the first book I thought. "This is weird" and that's really saying something considering how much I read fantasy, but they really grow on ya. Talking toothpicks, candy making eggmen, and all. You can't help but fall in love with Foo and the creatures that live there. Clover especially is a funny little character that keeps the mood light even in the most dire of circumstances. The Author pulls a Lemony Snicket move by mentioning his personal aquaintance with the characters though he seemingly is not a part of the story himself. It's a good read if you're in the mood for something funny and unusual.

Bullies in the Headlights

The Buckley boys are haeded back to school for another year. But unfortunately so are the Hagbarts - and they're out for revenge. Luckily, though the Hagbarts may be meaner, the Buckleys are smarter - or were smarter. The sight of Matthew's underwear at the top of the school flagpole loudly states that the Hagbart bullies are getting help from someone quite clever.

Soon the war of wits escalates to an incredilbe scheme designed to get the ultimate revenge on the Hagbarts. But now that Matthew has been learning that he's suppose to do good to those who hate him, what will he do when a little push becomes a great big shove?

Take a hilarious trip back to school in this delightful adventure with a message of forgiveness that will echo long after the last page has been turned.

Loved it! I found this book hilarious and truly reminded me of what it was like to be a kid. Based on real events there is such a true quality to the adventures and feelings these boys go through. I plan to read this book to my kids when they get old enough to listen to a chapter a night. It's a quick easy read that can help you get into the Holiday Spirit from a 3rd graders point of view.
