Quote- relationships

"Absence diminishes mediocre passions and increases great ones, as the wind extinguishes candles and fans fires. "
~Francois de La Rockefoucauld

"A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous."
~Ingrid Bergman

The Wizard Heir

Sixteen-year-old Seph McCauley has spent the past three years getting kicked out of one exclusive private school after another. And it's not his attitude that's the problem. It's the trail of magical accidents--lately, disasters--that follow in his wake. Seph is a wizard, orphaned and untrained--and his powers are escalating out of control.

After causing a tragic fire at an after-hours party, Seph is sent to the Havens, a secluded boys' school on the coast of Maine. At first, it seems like the answer to his prayers. Gregory Leicester, the headmaster, promises to train Seph in magic and initiate him into his mysterious order of wizards. But Seph's enthusiasm dampens when he learns that training comes at a steep cost, and that Leicester plans to use his students' powers to serve his own dangerous agenda. goodreads.

This book was great. I think I liked the first one better but again that's probably because the idea is all new. As a "companion book" we had a new lead character, but our old characters from Warrior heir were also there. Great action. Not too predictable. a bit of romance (just a bit). I'd suggest this series to all my fantasy reading friends!

Princess Academy

Miri lives on a mountain where for generations her ancestors have quarried stone and lived a simple life. Then word comes that the king's priests have divined her small village the home of the future princess. In a year's time, the prince himself will come and choose his bride from among the girls of the village. The king's ministers set up an academy on the mountain, and every teenage girl must attend and learn how to become a princess. Miri soon finds herself confronted with a harsh academy mistress, bitter competition among the girls, and her own conflicting desires to be chosen and win the heart of her childhood best friend. But when bandits seek out the academy to kidnap the future princess, Miri must rally the girls together and use a power unique to the mountain dwellers to save herself and her classmates. ~goodreads

Of couse I loved it! I love the hint of magic, yet the very common need to feel like we belong and to be approved of by those we care about most. The characters bear a striking resmblance to those you may have met in school though the village people give off the impression of a fine culture we haven't seen in years (though I'm sure it still exists in some remote places). Anyway I loved it all and as time permits I plan to read all of Shannon Hale's books.

Quote - Princess Academy

"I keep thinking about a tale my nurse used to read to me about a bird whose wings are pinned to the ground. In the end, when he finally frees himself, he flies so high he becomes a star. My nurse said the story was about how we all have something that keeps us down."

Charity Collab kit

I'm pleased to tell you about the realease of the biggest collab kit I have ever seen! I joined in on a charity collaboration with a ton of other designers to create a MASSIVE collab kit in order to raise some much needed funds for the National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias. Please go to the site to learn more about it.

The kit is called "Lifting Hopes" it's great for all you who never can find enough boy kits, but is very versitile, with an over all theme of flight and hope. It is a great colour scheme of blues and browns and creams. Here's what's in it:

140 papers!
over 200 elements!
7 alphas!

And, everything has been quality checked before it was added into the collaboration - so you know you're getting good stuff!

There are even some great coupons in there from some of the designers.

Also, there were so many contributions that they made an add-on kit too.

Where can you get this amazing kit?

How much: $10 ($2.00 for the add-on)

Here's a small preview of what's inside. Not even close to everything!

Quote - Mothers

"Mothers who know who they are and who God is and have made covenants with Him... are willing to spend more time with their children - more time eating together, more time working together, more time reading together, more time talking, laughing, singing, and exemplifying. ... These mothers choose carefully and do not try to choose it all. Their goal is to prepare a rising generation of children who will take the gospel of Jesus Christ into the entire world. Their goal is to prepare future fathers and mothers who will be builders of the Lord's kingdom for the next 50 years."

~Sister Beck, October 2007 General Conference
