journaling:
Jaden made me laugh so hard today! As I sat at the computer he would pull up to me on his bike, give me a kiss and say "bye I love you" while waving bye (okay so it took me a minute to figure out that was what he was saying, but I'm sure it is). He then would back up and turn into the kitchen, Just before he went in he'd blow me a kiss. He then would come back in and do it all over again. I laughed so hard I almost cried. Clearly this kid has seen Daddy leave many times and knows the routine.

Quote - Fairy Tales

"Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again."

C.S. Lewis

The Fairy's Return

Ever since Newbery Honor author Gail Carson Levine introduced the magical village of Snettering-on-Snoakes in the faraway Kingdom of Biddle, young readers have been laughing their way through her hilarious retellings of famous and not-so-famous fairy tales.
Now, for the first time, the six beloved Princess Tales are together in one magnificent volume:
The high jinks begin in The Fairy's Mistake, which pokes fun at a meddlesome fairy whose plans for good go terribly awry. In The Princess Test, the author spoofs the notion that a pea can prove a person's pedigree. Princess Sonora and the Long Sleep features a genius of a princess, a hundred years of snooze, two princes, and a flock of balding sheep! Cinderella is a boy in Cinderellis and the Glass Hill, and the glass slipper is a glass hill. In For Biddle's Sake, Parsley tries to forget her beloved prince and get used to life as a Biddlebum Toad. The road to happily-ever-after isn't easy when a baker's son and a princess fall in love in The Fairy's Return.
Elements of the classics are woven into these not-so-typical retellings of "Toads and Diamonds," "The Princess and the Pea," "Sleeping Beauty," "The Princess on the Glass Hill," "Puddocky," and "The Golden Goose." The fresh and funny twists on favorite fairy tales will win the hearts and capture the imaginations of young readers everywhere.

This book of fairy tales was so cute. I love Gail Carson Levine and all her books! Fairy tales are so much fun! I really don't have much to say about it, they made me laugh and I enjoyed a good read.

The Tail of Emily Windsnap

For as long as she can remember, twelve-year-old Emily Windsnap has lived on a boat. And, oddly enough, for just as long, her mother has seemed anxious to keep her away from the water. But when Mom finally agrees to let her take swimming lessons, Emily makes a startling discovery - about her own identity, the mysterious father she's never met, and the thrilling possibilities and perils shimmering deep below the water's surface. With a sure sense of suspense and richly imaginative details, first-time author Liz Kessler lures us into a glorious undersea world where mermaids study shipwrecks at school and Neptune rules with an iron trident - an enchanting fantasy about family secrets, loyal friendship, and the convention-defying power of love. (goodreads)

This was such a cute story. There's two more books in this series. I think if I have a girl I'm definately getting this series for her. It probably would have been one of my favorite books in my pre-teen days. Who wouldn't want to secretly be a mermaid! Good light reading.
