As a woman, and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka LDS or Mormon) I am also a member of the Relief Society. Founded in 1812 by Emma Smith (the prophet's wife) to help out all those in need and to better themselves in the process. This year I thought perhaps I would strive harder to live up to the relief society motto. Here it is below. I will also put it up on the side so I always have it to look at and remind me of the woman I am striving to be.
and our lives have meaning, purpose, and direction.
As a worldwide sisterhood, we are united in our devotion
to Jesus Christ, our Savior and Exemplar.
We are women of faith, virtue, vision, and charity who:
~
Increase our testimonies of Jesus Christ
through prayer and scripture study.
~
Seek spiritual strength by following the
promptings of the Holy Ghost.
~
Dedicate ourselves to strengthening
marriages, families, and homes.
~
Find nobility in motherhood
and joy in womanhood.
~
Delight in service and good works.
~
Love life and learning.
~
Stand for truth and rightousness.
~
Sustain the priesthood
as the authority of God on earth.
~
Rejoice in the blessings of the temple,
understand our divine destiny,
and strive for exaltation.

I think that's an excellent goal! You know what? I don't think I've ever really read that before... I like it.
